I just got a Seiko 5T52 World Timer Quartz watch that seemed to function. Or manually, by turning the crown for a 24 hour setting change.

My obsession with watches is well-known by my friends. A few weeks ago I was over at one of my friends' apartment and he mentioned a watch his father had given him a few years ago but had since broken. He said it was nothing special but still kinda neat, so I asked to see it. He went to his room and pulled out a Seiko 5T52-6A38 World Timer in great condition (serial number indicates it was manufactured in 1993). The small seconds hand had popped off and the battery was dead, but it was in great condition otherwise. I told him a bit about the watch and said I'd be happy to fix it up, so a couple weeks later he dropped it off at my place and I got to work on it.

Case back off, stems out, and replaced the small seconds hand, then ordered a new battery. Thank you, Amazon Prime. Today I finished my work by installing the new battery, setting the time, adjusting the time zone indicator hand, and setting the GMT function. Cleaned up the case and it's all set to go back to my very happy friend!

My favorite part was signing my initials and dating the inside of the case back for the work done. A little piece of history for the next person to open it up. Edit: thanks for the gold!
